Responsibilities

  • Handle legal operations, including managing outside counsels and developing documentation.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze regulations.
  • Manage internal compliance procedures.
  • Act independently across all legal matters and develop legal strategies in novel and non-regulated fields.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of emerging technologies, securities regulations, and associated risks.
  • Perform legal review, assess risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and implement legal analysis and strategy to support growth and mitigate risks.
  • Provide legal advice on areas relevant to tech startups, such as intellectual property and employment.
  • Research laws and regulations in the US and foreign jurisdictions for strategic decision-making.
  • Manage day-to-day legal operations, including contractual agreements, compliance, and structuring.
  • Negotiate partnerships, investments, grants, and commercial agreements.
  • Handle the full cycle of corporate documentation, from planning and drafting to implementation.
  • Contribute to building a streamlined legal operation process.
  • Work closely with the team to improve the efficiency of legal operations.

Requirements

  • A legal degree from an ABA-approved school (JD or applicable equivalent).
  • Active license in a U.S. state, and an active license in a common-law jurisdiction (preferred).
  • 6+ years of PQE as an in-house counsel and/or in a law firm with a focus on informational technologies, digital/cryptocurrencies, securities laws and regulations, and related matters.
  • Proven experience with cryptocurrency projects and hands-on experience with decentralised projects, DAOs, and governance-related matters.
  • Familiarity with blockchain, Cosmos, and DeFi. Understanding of Tendermint, the Cosmos SDK, and IBC (preferred).
  • Ability to learn about new technologies.
  • Passion for cryptocurrency and blockchain technology and advocacy of decentralized solutions and projects.
